In early 1980s a German composer Klaus Schulze composed albums of experimental space music which was highly atmospheric and sequencer driven. Some of these songs share similarities with early trance music and are sometimes categorized as trance. Two of his albums from the 80s included the word trance in their titles, 1981’s Trancefer and 1987’s En-Trance.
During this time Goa was flooded with hippies who techno and its techniques to Goa which led to what eventually became the Goa trance style. Pioneers included DJs Fred Disko, Swiss Rudi, Laurent, Goa Gil, and Amsterdam Joey. Many parties similar to raves but with a more mystic flavor in Goa revolve entirely around this type of music. In other countries like Israel, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Japan, New Zealand, Macedonia and South Africa, Goa trance is also often played at raves, festivals and parties along with other styles of trance and techno.
Goa trance is essentially dance trance music. As such it has an energetic beat, almost always in common time four quarter note pulses per bar. Time is marked with kicks on each quarter note pulse, a snare or clap on the second and fourth pulse of the bar, with an open hi hat sound every second eighth note. The BPM (beats per minute) typically lies in the 130-150 range, although some tracks may have as low as 110 or as high as 160 and the song on one for at least eight to ten minutes. Goa Trance tracks tend to focus on steadily building energy throughout, using changes in percussion patterns and more intricate and layered synch parts as the music progresses in order to build a hypnotic and intense feeling.
Goa trance parties began in the late 1980s in the state of Goa in India and are hosted in locations such as on a beach or in the middle of the forest, although it is not uncommon for them to be held in clubs as well.

Often difficult to master, the Samba is a lively Brazilian dance consisting of many jumps and turns. The Samba is an extremely fast dance.
Paso Doble:
Meaning “two step” in Spanish, Pasa Doble is a lively, march-like dance with significantly less hip movement.
Jive
A variation of the Jitterbug, the Jive consists of dance steps derived from country dancing.
Latin Style:
Compared to other ballroom dances, Latin dances are generally faster-paced, more sensual, and have more rhythmic expression. The latin dances are for couples, typically a man and a woman. Partners sometimes dance in a closed, tight position, and sometimes hold only one hand. Latin dancing, as Latin music, is sultry and physical. Quick paced rhythms and playful movements make the various Latin dances endlessly entertaining, sometimes even breathtaking.
The Latin dances are derived from the music to which they are danced. The component of the music that most differentiates the dances is their fast or slow tempo.

There are about 30,000-40,000 people every year at trance beach party. It is known as the Full Moon Party. Last Saturday night I was freaking-out and an amazing trance beach party in Goa, India. International and Goan DJ’s are making the crowd go wild. Paint yourself in UV colors and let your body lose control. The DJ’s play all kinds of music; techno, trance, Goa, drum n’ bass, dub, reggae, “commercial hits”, house etc on about 15 sound systems. There are also many small tables on the beach where you can sit down with your friends or meet new ones from all parts of the globe. You can order drinks and food from the restaurants and the bars next to the beach. The full moon parties at Goa began over fifteen years ago with a group of itinerant backpackers raving in the moonlight. They arranged a drug-fuelled, all-night psychedelic trance dance party along the crescent-shaped beach.
The full moon party gained fame quickly through word of mouth, and people from all over the world flocked to join the celebration. Gradually the event has become a standard part of the itinerary for many travelers to India. The full moon party now draws a crowd of between five and ten thousand every full moon night; Making it the biggest regular party in Goa, and the certainly the most celebrated dance party in India. The site of the full moon party is sunrise side of the Goan Beach. The full moon party is split among several beach front venues offering a concoction of music including trance, techno, drum and bass, house and reggae.
Most of these places have their own dance floors, but ravers tend to spill out onto the beach right up to the waters edge. Ravers spill out from the open air dance halls onto the beach right up to the waters edge. Apart from the international dj’s doing there knob twisting music thing, impromptu entertainment at the party includes jugglers and unsupervised (and occasionally uncontrolled) firework displays. Poi is also a common sight at the parties. This is usually the metal chain version with burning Kevlar wicks, performed by both locals and tourists.

6. Have a buffet-style food area for an indoor beach party. Select a few main courses that you can serve in chafing dishes, such as baked ziti and chicken masala. Complement the selection with summer salads of potato, coleslaw, pasta, tomato and basil and fruit.

Carnival in Goa
The carnival in Goa is one of the most oldest and considered to be a tradition of Goa.It is usually in the month of February and held before the Lent season starts.If is filled with fun and frolic all around not only the kids but also the elderly enjoying and getting in the spirit and groove of the carnival.There is enthusiasm and happiness all around.
Meaning behind its origin :
It indicated the enjoyment of meat, alcohol and the sweets prepared during these 3 days.There are lights all around with various musics played and the carnival dance and the procession which enchants every individual to participate and get one in the spirit.I also meant that all the natives would enjoy meat and alcohol before the advent of Lent as lent is the month where abstinence is followed by every catholic.
Most of them do not eat meat or fish products and fast for 40 days eating simple vegetarian food. The Goa Carnival is an integral part of the Portuguese heritage of the state, which was a dominion of Portugal till 1961. The carnival epitomizes the fun-loving culture that is characteristic of Goa.It was introduced by the erstwhile rulers as a rowdy celebration in which flour, eggs, oranges, lemons, mud, sand-filled gloves along with dirty water, various liquids and glue were aimed at passersby.
Used pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils were also thrown out of windows. Perhaps this was done to discard the old and the dirty before the Lenten fast.Fierce battles were waged in the streets, with plaster-of-Paris eggs, wax lemons, corncobs and beans. Blows were dealt out liberally, with brooms and wooden spoons. It was also an occasion for unchecked eating. People gorged on rich food at lavish feasts, and convents distributed cakes and pastries.
Though celebrated for only three days, the preparations for the festival would take many days, and build up to a frenetic pitch by the eve of the carnival. The carnival in Goa still retains the core of the original. A King of Chaos is elected, called King “Momo”. He presides over the three-day festivities, which attract visitors from all over India and abroad. The carnival consists of the procession on the streets and loud music and dance and very loud clothing.
The contestants wear colorful costumes and elaborate masks. There costumes are outrageous and consists of very bright colors and the material is mainly transparent and the outfits hugging the bodies of the woman dancing and men playing the drums and the flutes…Women dancing to their tunes and people would generally throw colored water or tomatoes and various other stuff which they would like to discard from their houses…
In the early years this festival was mostly celebrated by the Christians specially in the ancient goan villages but now it’s celebrated by everyone and is famous worldwide for its warmth and has gained a tourist attraction during the carnival

Rave or rave party is a term first used in the 1980’s to describe dance parties (often all-night events) with fast-paced electronic music and light shows. Rave parties are a major tourist attraction in Goa and most popular and an entertaining event that goes all night long.
Goan rave parties are famous parties known through out the world. The origin of rave parties in Goa can be traced back to the 1960’s with an influence of hippies flocking in Goa. Foreigners crowded Goan beaches in drugged and drunken hordes and partied. However, the nature of these rave parties has now changed and has spawned a new kind of music called Goa Trance, which is played through the nights.
Goa is an offshoot of techno that is characterized by multi-layered synth lines and sub-bass rhythms. Rave parties in Goa are held every night around the time of New Year and Christmas, and have been under control ever since Goa Tourism decided to promote up market tourism over backpackers in Goa. Goan Rave parties are full of dance, music and fun, and can be diverting pass times for tourists. If you see a huge group of ravers heading off on their bikes together, it is a sure sign that a rave party is on and they are heading for it.
